Mustard Seed Microfarm CSA Program

*2018 CSA shares are SOLD OUT!*

The modern Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) model started in the northeastern United States in the 1980's and was influenced by European biodynamic agriculture ideas formulated by Rudolph Steiner.  As of 2007, there were over 12,000 CSA farms in the US according to the USDA.

Community Supported Agriculture is a system that connects the producer and consumer within the food system more closely by allowing the consumer to subscribe to the harvest of a certain farm.  It is an alternative socioeconomic model of agriculture and food distribution that allows the producer and consumer to share the risks of farming.  This results in a stronger consumer-producer relationship.

How It Works

The Mustard Seed Microfarm CSA program runs for approximately 15-weeks from June to September.  Membership in our program is secured by purchasing a share in our farm.  Each share entitles you to a weekly portion of our harvest (whatever is available that week).  There are two share sizes available, full and half.  Information on pricing can be found below.  As stated  above, the CSA is a partnership between the consumer and the farmer.  At the core of CSA is the idea that members support their farmer by sharing in the inherent risks of agriculture (poor weather, drought, disease, crop failure, etc.) and rewards (the bounty from a good season).  Therefore, while Mustard Seed Microfarm will act in good faith to provide fresh produce for the share season, there is no guarantee of quantities or contents of weekly shares.  During the season, members will be responsible for picking up their weekly share on the day and time given.  This assures that their produce remains as fresh as possible.  Shares will be available for pick up at the farm or can be delivered for an additional fee.  For the 2018 season pick up day will be:

Thursday afternoons between 3 and 6 pm at the farm

If a member is not able to pick up their weekly share at the time above, they must give the farm at least 24 hours notice.  If I do not receive any notice or you make no other arraignments, you will forfeit your weekly share.  There are no refunds for forfeited shares.  Each weekly share will consist of 4-6 different items depending on what is in season and ready to harvest.  Shares are available in two sizes.  Our full share will contain enough fresh produce to feed 1-4 people and is available for $400.00.  Our half share will contain enough fresh produce to feed 1-2 people and is available for $200.00.  Home delivery of weekly shares is available for $50.00 per season.  If you would like more information on our CSA program, please contact us.
